Campout Policy

All members are expected to participate in the Campout Agenda activities.  This includes War Games, Chief’s Event, Fire Ceremony, meals, and evening entertainment.  The Longhouse puts forth great efforts to ensure the activities will be fun and entertaining for both Dad and Son or Daughter.  We need the Dads to be involved to realize the full benefits of spending time with their children, and this promotes greater bonding within the entire program.  Failure to participate in the campout activities will result in Dads being asked not to attend future campouts.

National Longhouse Inc. has a no alcohol policy, and all the camps we are attending also prohibit alcoholic beverages.  The Western Pennsylvania Local Longhouse supports this position.  We do not expect to see visible containers of alcohol, cases of beer, or trash cans containing empty bottles or cans from alcoholic beverages.    Failure to abide by this no alcohol policy will result in Dads being asked to leave the campout and not attend future campouts.

The Western Pennsylvania Local Longhouse tries to run campouts at or near cost for its members.  We do not have a budget for fancy equipment or to repair camp equipment damaged by our members.  Please do not abuse the camp facilities or the items the Longhouse brings to camp.

If you are planning to attend a campout, please sign up by the registration deadline.  All the camps we are attending need to know how many campers we are bringing 2 weeks prior to the campout date.  Please try to sign up early to make our planning easier.

Longhouse members and campout organizers are unpaid volunteers who are trying to make campouts an enjoyable and memorable experience for both Dad and Son or Daughter.  We have our kid(s) at camp just like everyone else.  If you see an opportunity to lend a hand to make an event go more smoothly, please step up and help out.  Your Son or Daughter will think you’re cool!

Anyone who has paid for a campout but is unable to attend will be credited for a future campout except in extenuating circumstances.  Please let the Meshanewa know as soon as possible if you have signed up for a campout and cannot attend it.
